Our recruitment process
At Plouvier, our recruitment process is designed to streamline interactions with candidates and provide them with a smooth and efficient experience. We strive to ensure clear communication at every stage while addressing each candidate’s needs and questions. This approach also aims to support new employees from the moment they join, helping them integrate seamlessly and thrive within the company.
Stage 1 :
The recruitment process begins with an initial phone contact, followed by the next step: filling in your application details directly on our website. This process helps streamline your application and ensures that all necessary information is accurately captured.
Stage 2 :
The process begins with a first interview with the Human Resources department, which allows us to assess the candidate’s background, motivations, and expectations. For captains and helmsmen, a second interview is then organized with the nautical manager. This additional step enables a deeper evaluation of the technical skills and specific competencies required for these key positions.
Stage 3 :
Congratulations, you’re joining the Plouvier team, and you’ll be taking part in the Plouvier Welcom day to ensure your arrival at the company is a success. You can then contact your HRBP, who will be your personal contact.

1st Captain
The First Captain is the leader on board, responsible for managing the vessel and overseeing all operations. As the primary point of contact, he/she ensures seamless coordination among crew members, maintaining high standards of safety, teamwork, and efficiency. His/her role is essential in ensuring smooth navigation, operational excellence, and a strong team dynamic.
2nd Captain
The Second Captain supports the First Captain in managing the vessel and assumes full responsibility in his/her absence. He/she plays a key role in navigation, crew supervision, and operational decision-making, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with regulations. His/her leadership is vital to maintaining a well-functioning and cohesive team.
Helmsman with Patent
The Stuurman with Patent is a qualified professional who assists in navigation, vessel operations, and crew management. With certified expertise, he/she contributes to the safe and efficient handling of the vessel while supporting captains in operational and logistical tasks. His/her role bridges leadership and hands-on execution, ensuring smooth sailing.
Helmsman without Patent
The Stuurman without Patent is an essential crew member gaining experience while assisting in vessel operations and deck activities. Under the guidance of more senior officers, he/she contributes to navigation support, safety procedures, and daily tasks, developing his/her skills on the path to certification.
Deckhand
The Deckhand is a vital part of the crew, assisting with basic deck operations, maintenance, and safety procedures. As an entry-level position, it provides hands-on training and experience, forming the foundation for career growth in inland navigation.
Internships
